Dayspring Worship Centre, Kitwe, Zambia

We have enjoyed for some time now a close partnership with Dayspring International Ministries in Zambia. Zambia is wide open to the good news of Jesus and is seeking to promote itself as a Christian country. Around 1 in 4 of the population would consider themselves as evangelical Christians. The Church is Zambia does, however, face many challenges as the nation buckles under the considerable weight of need. The economy has been hit hard by the changes in the price of copper, unemployment is high, corruption common place and the sense of need compounded through the rapid spread of HIV AIDs.
It is into this situation that God has called Daysprings to be a voice of hope bringing the prodigals back home. The ministry is located in Kitwe in the Northern Copperbelt area and is led by Joseph and Lillian Mwila who in the past few years have planted a Churches in Kitwe and the near by towns of Chambeshi and Chingola. They have a clear vision to plant into neighbouring towns and nations and eventually the nations.
As a team we are involved in coming alongside and sharing the vision. We look to see the church empowered and released to fulfil the dream that God has given them.

PFJ Relationship
We value friendship above activity and are seeking to develop and explore friendship in Zambia. A large part of mission is simply coming alongside friends and simply sharing life together.

Leadership Training
Joseph has commented that it doesn't take long to grow a church in Zambia but it takes a lot longer to grow a leader. We are involved in working with leaders, training, releasing and equipping.

Outreach
In Zambia people are ready to receive Christ. PFJ partners with Daysprings through preaching Jesus in public gatherings and crusades.

StreetLife Street Children Project

The Projects

The grace centre – for boys

The centre has been used until recently as a drop-in where the children could call in, receive food and friendship. Currently there are 14 orphan boys living at the centre which is known as the Grace Centre. The property was purchased for the project in autumn 2004 following many donations from local Churches, organisations, schools and individuals. Much work has been done to develop it, including decorating, additional showers and toilets. As well as many volunteers the project employs 3 workers at the centre who care for the children and help organise food and chores.  A Bridal Hire business is also run from the centre providing additional income.
We have been able to start sending the boys who live at the centre to local schools A school sponsorship programme exists to help cover the cost of education for the boys which is at present £15 per month.  Also for other children whose parents at present can’t afford to care for them an education sponsorship scheme operates where people can sponsor a child to be educated and therefore be able to stay at home.

The faith centre – for girls

A building has been made available in the nearby township of Luangwa; it has received significant renovation and decoration. Initially 13 orphan girls are being cared for and loved at the centre, we expect this to increase.  A sponsorship programme is underway for the girls It is envisaged that the building will be developed into a resource centre for the community; it is already providing sewing tuition and feeding.  Some 80 children are fed from the centre weekly.  This small addition helps the families maintain their children at home and not on the streets.  We are expecting this project to expand and more to be done in this community.

Running the project

The monthly costs of running the projects are significant, if you would like to sponsor the projects please download our financial partner form from the Giving page.
